Our day on the river
So yesterday Dave took the afternoon off from work and we hooked up the boat and headed out to the Willamette river. Up tell this point all our Boating had been done on lakes. I have to say I much prefer Rivers!!!!! For swimming and playing I like the lake. But for just out and out Cruising and letting the throttle open up the River was Nice!
We traveled probably 40 Miles round trip yesterday! It was nice to just watch the sights go by! Oh and our Boat gets WAY better gas millage then the truck LOL
The biggest difference in boating on a river from a lake is well the traffic! On a lake you have pleasure boaters, fishing boats, skiing boats and jet skis canoes, kayak and the like. On a river you have all that PLUS commercial traffic. Now the part of the river we where on didn't have freighters, but the barges where big enough.

One of the nice things about beign on the river, you can bet away from the people and get to nature. Someone had built a fire and cooked fish in it. The Turcky Vulter was taking advantage of the left overs!
ANd last but not least the view from the back of the boat!

Cute bird! (NOT.) He looks a little perplexed - think maybe he's not used to eating COOKED fish?
Thank you for the comments on my Spaces blog. Actually, I have another online journal elsewhere that I post to more often; readership is somewhat restricted and the community on that site is a bit more close-knit (you know, like writing to 50,000 of your closest friends and regular readers, instead of 50,000,000 strangers who rarely bother to comment). But I figured I'd give this another shot. We'll see how it goes.

I think he was a bit upset with the fact we drifted closer to get a good shot. I had my medium lens on and well it was not enough to get a good shot from the middle of the river LOL and well me being me I was a bit to lazy to change it to the telephoto LOL

Thanks Dave!
I have a whole series of him, starting with him in the dead fire picking at the fish, to him removing it.

Great view. I would love to have enough time to do what you did. I love the picture with the Turkey Vulture. At first i thought it was a postcard.
