So much for clean up!

Friday Dave took the day off so he and the boys could fall a couple tree's in our back yard! the first tree was fairly simple since 2 sections had all ready broken off in the wind. One last winter and one last week. They fell it in a matter of minutes, then clean up was easy a few swipes with the chain saw and it was ready for fire wood splitting.

Then the fell the second tree full sized ( but was dieing off) was not so simple! Jesse Climbed up it and tied it off as high up as he could, then the 2 boys positioned them selves at the other end of the yard, pulling in the direction they wanted to tree to fall so it would not fall on my house. Dave started in with the chain saw.  ALl of a sudden it starts sparking?? HUH sparks on wood.  So he tried a different angle, and so on. He finally finds out what is sparking. Someone had drove a stake in to the tree when it was young, and the tree grew over it.  By now the chain saw blade is shot!

Has any one ever noticed how stubborn men can be?? hehehhehehe

SO at this point he has a big chunk out of the side and is not comfortable leaving it that way so he gets the ax out and chopped the tree down by hand!  Took a bit but he did it!

It was a bit scary! I was in side, and all off a sudden there are branches touching my windows all along the back side of my house! NOTHING BROKE THANK GOODNESS!  but the large branch in the back caught on another tree and spun it forward.  But they boys where able to keep enough control of it, no damage was done to the house! WOOHOOO BOYS!

So here is my hubby in the middle of his mess, after Tree 1 was cleaned up and the boys chopped all the branches off the tree so they were not near the house.  Not near as impressive looking as when My back yard was Tree from house to fence LOL

So the plan was to fish yesterday while I had my Pampered chef party, and then they would clean up the tree today.  WEll it is wet and windy out LOL so no clean up is not being done today LOL but at least I don't have to worry about a tree falling on my house in the wind!

I tried that once with friends at guy's cottage...it went horribly wrong!! A slight miscalculation caused the tree to come down on top of the cottage...luckily it fell in such a way that is simply rolled off the roof and didn't damage anything except the eaves trough. I was glad it wasn't my plan! HAHAHA!

Great story, Doris!! My husband could've used some help when he took down our trees. Teenage girls just aren't into that kind of thing, although they did run down to hold the ladder when he was standing on it to tie the tree from as high up as he could. Then it was back inside for them.

What a relief it must have been to know it was over! I remember watching trees come down often when I was a kid. It was fun watching, but not much fun cleaning up afterwards,LOL!
