I'm so Fickle LOL

I just can't make up my mind and keep it that way!

So I just don't have the energy to keep up 2 blogs. So this one will be the one! I pay for it I might as well use it.

So Many of you know ( friends and family any way) that Both boys are joined our Local Explorer program through the Sheriff's office.  They went through boot camp over last summer for Search and rescue training. They are both now certified first aid, CPR, and those defib machine things ( they can shock the heart). Then they went through 20 hour weekend training days for 2.5 months for the Law enforcement side.  Mixed in with all that  they go on searches for missing people, children, Hikers any one that may go missing in or out of the city, in the mountains where ever they are needed.  They also search crime scenes for evidence.

Levi has really gotten in to the whole operations aspect of it he was elected Quarter Master ( aka Logistics Sargent) and has really enjoyed working with the crime prevention unit. He sure loves to be the center of attention and what better way then handing stickers out to kids or running around dressed as McGruff the Crime dog!

He even won an award for the most hours logged for a newbie last year! He has really worked his little tush off!

He is currently also volunteering his time at his old middle school helping coach the wrestling team there, he has really enjoyed this position. He just started an internship yesterday for out counties Historical society. ( the school the kids go to require they do an internship 2 days a week), he gets his love of history from my dad. So I'm sure he will really get a lot of out of this internship!

Jesse, is really enjoying the Explorer program too! He has not put in quite as much time as Levi but he was sick a couple of times they got called out.  He always goes on the searches for missing people but not always the crime scene stuff.

Jesse has been using his law enforcement training as his internship. He went on his first ride along last night. He came how walking on clouds! he was on such a natural high it was cool to see him so excited.

They did typical traffic stuff, stopped a few cars for expired tags, tried to serve a warrant, then they were called to help an FBI agent serve a warrant. They cleared the house then let Jesse come in with them while the arrested the guys and such.

He is trying to set up ride alongs at least once a week for this quarter so he can continue using Law enforcement internship.

Jesse is also involved with the Theater at his home high school ( the school that holds his records and he would attend if he was going to a "standard" school LOL).  He works about about 7 hours every Saturday on theater stuff, he helps set up for the upcoming play, helps build the sets and any other things they need him  to do.

He has been learning to drive over the last year! EKKKKKKKKK He does pretty good but I think I have had a couple heart attacks! LOL he can not get his license until he has a job and can pay for the difference in car insurance. ( same goes for Levi.)

So the school the boys go to is very much not a typical style school! they have seminars on Wednesdays for their "required" subjects like math and health and such.  To earn their credits they have to figure out what they are going to do to get them. Like doing research projects, through their internships. Like Levi is earning part of his P.E. credit by volunteering with the Wrestling team.  They get language arts credit for any research or papers they write. Everything they do they have to do project proposal's and such just like in a the real world. They have to prove that what they want to do with give them the result they need to succeed.

They are left to do most of their work on their own. You have to have drive to make it at this school. If you don't do the work you will not succeed.  It is not like the lesson is given to them and they do it, they are making their lesson's as they go.

Next year Jesse is thinking about going to program out district offers through the community college. You get your High school diploma and 2 years of college at the same time! and the best part the School district pays for it all! WOOHOOO!  you have to be a junior to do this plan.  We have an appointment next week with the lady to see if this really is a program he wants to do.

so long story short LOL all is well and the kids keep me running with all their activies.

See you next time!
