The Night Before

To start our Trip I will start with the night before we left.

We are all running around to finish up the last bit of packing.  Mostly doing laundry and so we have enough clothes to get us thru without having to stop at a laundry mat.  So I go down the hall to the bed room, come back to the living room and BANG!!!! Smacked my pinking toe of my right foot on my Gazzelle (I was going to link you to the post about the Gazzelle but it is missing)  I yell and same some not so nice words  (thank goodness my kids are teen and have heard these words before!)   I hobble over to the couch and sit down holding it as tight as I can all the way. You know the whole if you squeeze it really tight it won’t hurt thing but all it really does is make it throb more LOL . I finally get the guts up to look and yep it is bleeding and OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! I have ripped part of the toe nail away from the nail bed!  Makes me shutter just thinking about it again! Oy OY OY.

I hold pressure on it as long as I can. I don’t get it to completely stop bleeding but it slowed down enough I put a Band-Aid on it really tight to hold the nail down and keep pressure on it.  Now I still have dinner dishes and things to complete.  So here I am in the kitchen barefoot with a band-aid holding my toe nail down and an Ice pack on top of the toe while I do dishes LOL

Dave says to me “Well you always hurt yourself on good family trips. This time you hurt yourself bad before we even left so it must mean we are going to have a really good trip”  I guess that is one way to look at it! LOL and it did make me smile hehehe  ( side note I didn't hurt my self on the trip!)

So thanks to this little incident I spent the 2 days of travel and 3 days of walking and exploring in flip flops! I could not even get socks on without pain let alone shoes!  Did you know you can walk about 3 miles a day in Flip flops??? Hehehe I would not recommend it but hey it worked for me.   I was so supper excited when I was able to get real shoes on! The first day I wore my walking sneaker. I could feel  pressure and it was uncomfortable but it was not painful WOOHOOO real shoes, the next day I was able to wear my hiking boots! What I really prefer for walking on uneven ground and stuff.

So I leave you with DON”T rip your toenail half off before a trip you will be doing a lot of walking on LOL

Have a great day
Doris

That sounded painful! And I can't stand to walk trails in flip flops... you've gotta shake the dirt out of your shoes every couple of steps. Glad it's feeling better now!

Thanks Julie! I tell you I can't even feel anything any more WOOHOOO! but the to nail looks a bit funky it is kinda of sticking up but the skin seems to have healed around it so i don't think I  will  loose it, but then I would have to take the polish off to see the color ( and I don't want to do that!!!!!!! LOL)
